Mae Mae Releases Playful “Peach” About Southern Upbringing

Words by Hannah Kozak

Do you ever romanticize your hometown in your head but have to remember how badly you wanted out? Mae Mae has released the perfect indie-pop song for that love-hate relationship everyone seems to have with their hometowns titled “Peach.” The track is fun, upbeat, and a great transitional track from late summer to early autumn. The catchy chorus of “Peach” demands more than one listen; it’s simply infectious.

"I wrote ‘Peach’ trying to sort through my feelings on growing up in the south,” said Mae Mae. “On one hand, I’ve always felt a sense of pride in my upbringing. There’s a charm about the people and communities that I realize now is hard to come by. On the other hand, there’s a lot about the south that I'd prefer to leave behind. I struggle with missing it, and simultaneously wanting to get as far away as possible from it.”

The Atlanta-born and OC-based singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist released her debut EP Gummy Heart Eyes at the start of 2022. She is known for her seasoned storytelling and being playful while still authentic. Fans can expect more music from Mae Mae this fall and are encouraged to keep up with the singer for upcoming announcements.
