Alternative metal artist Crystal Joilena releases her newest single, “The High Priestess,” on June 2nd. While some may recognize Joilena from a collaboration with Motionless In White for a stripped-down version of “Eternally Yours” or her previous tracks produced by Bad Omens bassist Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson, Joilena’s newest single shows her vulnerable side.

“The High Priestess” explores ideas of spiritual awakenings, connecting with your higher self, shadow work, and the false representations. The single acts as a pushback to the corporate side of the music industry, or the side where upper-executives attempt to control artists. With the High Priestess card itself relaying that one’s intuition is guiding them on the right path, Joilena’s “The High Priestess” also acts as a return to one’s true self after seeing the negative sides of the music industry.

Based in New York, Crystal Joilena’s music acts as a diary with little bits and pieces of dark, feminine energy. With her first EP Numb Without Notice debuting at almost 300k streams and her debut album War On My Soul with nearly 200k streams, Joilena has gained a powerful fanbase over the last handful of years. Her new releases continuously prove she deserves to be alongside the likes of Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox), Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless), and Lynn Gunn (PVRIS).
